Bumble Furthers Commitment to Women’s Sports With New York Liberty Partnership

NY Liberty partnership with Bumble

On the heels of our multiyear WNBA partnership, we’re taking our commitment to championing women in sports to the next level by partnering with one of the best teams in the league: the New York Liberty.

We know our community loves sports—nearly 1 in 3 (31 percent)* of singles in the U.S. think that a love of watching or playing sports is a ‘must-have’ when dating. Sports is also the number one Interest Badge displayed on Bumble profiles in New York, with Basketball being a top pick among women and men.** By teaming up with the New York Liberty, we’re giving our community more spaces to show up and meet IRL, while cheering on a powerhouse team in basketball.

Inside Bumble’s Partnership With the New York Liberty

We’ll kick things off as the presenting partner of one of Liberty’s home games during round one of the WNBA Playoffs presented by Google, where we’ll take over Barclays Center with an exciting activation, and host a singles event where Liberty fans can mingle while discussing game highlights.

Leading up to the playoffs, we’ll also launch a contest to win a VIP date night experience at a WNBA game. Starting August 27, fans can enter to have the chance to attend round one of the WNBA Playoffs presented by Google. Each winner will receive travel and accommodations for themselves and a plus one, complete with a dinner reservation, courtside seats for the pregame warm-ups, and a chance for a postgame photo opp on the court. Plus, as part of our recent partnership with the WNBA, one lucky winner will be chosen to attend the WNBA Finals presented by YouTube TV.

“This exciting moment has been a long time coming for women’s sports and we are thrilled to support a rising tide around the incredible players and teams making history. The New York Liberty is an iconic institution that has made New Yorkers and sports fans proud for years. I’m thrilled that we can bring that excitement directly to our community and help them connect over their love of the game,” said Selby Drummond, Chief Marketing Officer, Bumble. “We remain committed to increasing equity for women athletes while also creating more in-person experiences for our members to meet offline in fun, new ways.”

Along with the contest and live events, we’re teaming up with the Liberty to launch a new social media series, with dating tips and profile pointers from Liberty players and fan-favorite Liberty mascot, Ellie the Elephant. From nailing the right Opening Move to spotting dating fouls, we’ll coach you on how to make your profile stand out—through the season and beyond.

Keia Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of the New York Liberty, is equally excited about what this partnership means to the team, and the league as a whole: “For more than a decade, the New York Liberty has been focused on expanding our roster of corporate partners to reach new, engaged, and broader audiences. As the landscape of women’s sports evolves, we remain committed to partnering with value-aligned companies that understand the impact of women’s sports. We are thrilled to partner with Bumble to give unique opportunities for our fans and the New York community.”

Sports have a unique way of bringing us together, and by teaming up with the  Liberty, we’re proud to foster those connections both on and off the court. You’ll find more details about our upcoming events and content on our social channels, so stay tuned—you might just score a date who loves game day as much as you.
