London is still buzzing with energy following our latest event, The Hive: London, which celebrated the launch of our professional networking platform, Bumble Bizz. The two day networking event showcased the fresh approach we’re taking to networking, with an emphasis on opportunity and wellness over job hunting.
Dozens of UK press members excitedly visited the The Hive, but the true magic unfolded when over 1,600 of our users visited the installation in Brown Hart Gardens just off Oxford Street over the course of two days. Within the yellow walls of The Hive, users worked with our staff to build their Bumble Bizz bios, take professional headshots, and partake in workshops focused on growing one’s influence and increasing creativity. Inspiring female businesswomen also took to The Hive stage for a series of intimate panels that went straight to the heart the working woman.
Madeleine Shaw, Brita Fernandez Schmidt, Poppy Jamie and Louise Troen discussed the importance of prioritizing mental health on “Why Mindfulness is the Key to Success.” Bumble’s own CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd led the “Female Founders” conversation with Propercorn cofounder, Cassandra Stavrou; Fashion East founder and LOVE Editor-at-large, Lulu Kennedy; Refinery29 Fashion Director, Alice Casely; and skincare expert, Dr. Barbara Sturm. And finally, Maya Jama’s panel of Alice Liveing, Naomi Shimada and Julie Adenuga offered an insight into “The Power of Resilience as a Young Working Woman.”
Between panels, workshops, and and bio-building, we encouraged our users at The Hive to take a little time for themselves. Everyone was invited to partake in a yoga class, schedule a few moments in the hair/make-up/nail station manned by local beauty professionals, or refuel alongside new friends with a healthy snack from the Pollination Station Cafe.
The Hive not only brought together likeminded professional women in London, whether newly established in the working world or looking to transition their careers into new arenas, but it gave them the tools to make meaningful, confident connections that will be paid forward for years to come as their networks and friendships grow.
Stay tuned to find out where the next installment of The Hive might pop up!
